The expansion (Below Zero) is even better. As you play through Subnautica you will come across scannable base and habitat items like Windows, Reinforced Glass, Multipurpose Room and other elements. You really wanted to avoid the leviathans (and ultimately its not difficult to do so) and grew to scare the smaller aggressive creatures. I really liked that about it that it wasn't really violent. the threat level in that game is pretty low, its more about the scariness than actual damage. Too bad you didn't like Subnautica, I thought it was pretty great. Overall its very complicated but the customization and build ability is through the roof. It also has a large modding community that adds more objectives to the game. Eventually if you are really into it you'll be building printing factories to build ships and massive underground complexes with auto-diggers making new tunnels to build random crap in. You'll need to build the actual guts of each station/ship you build to ensure proper automation and manufacturing. You can check out the reddit or just google some of the amazing mass drilling rigs, missile destroyers (again, no real purpose for combat in base game) and megaships. After you've done the simple mining and building of simple ships or stations, you really get into the grit of building super complex machinery. What makes Space Engineers shine is if you are super into building and complex construction. Its very much like Minecraft in that you are just building stuff. Space Engineers has no story (though it does have some simple scenarios you can play) and the base game has no real pressure.
It really is a super full game that caters to explorers more than anything else. They keep adding stuff like derelict freighters, pet genetics, etc. The story is alright and the exploration is to die for. Its base building is enjoyable, neat, clean, and has enough customization to make so really cool stuff. Of your selections, I believe NMS has the only real story. Pax Imperia Eminent Domain, if you're into the oldies. Raft, sucks you in, great sense of progression despite its cheap level design. Other games I'd recommend: Spore, of course, still the best in the category in my opinion. If you can dispense with the Netflix style story telling of NMS then that's the one I'd pick. A lot of grinding in the late game but not so much early on. Base building is good, although not very meaningful. You can choose to set up on a peaceful planet to avoid raids. The exploration part is really good, at least for the first 30-40 hours, then you'll start noticing how every planet looks similar. Now go get this other super rare stuff and come back. No man's sky: I found the story line too invasive and not well written ("Go get this super rare ore and come back. You can also automate the mining I believe. A bit too much combat for my taste but the base building part was enjoyable. Your based gets raided a lot and if you turn the raids off it ends up being quite boring.
Just like space engineers I think the devs spent more time on mutliplayer features than things that'd make the solo experience better. Probably great in multiplayer.Įmpyrion: I had a lot fun with this one about 3 years ago, tried to get back into it last year and got disappointed. The exploration part is quite shallow from what I've been able to see but it might have changed since then. Space engineers: it was really difficult for me to get into it, it definitely lives up to its name, very technically oriented I'd say. From what you've said It seems that we have similar gameplay preferences so I might be of help. I've played all three games, but they were at different stage of development at the time. there´s no need of having npc telling me what to do or achivement systems.
I didn´t like subnautica (lack of selfdefence), frostpunk (being forced to do things or gameover), rimworld (perspective) and don´t like pvp at all. least thread level - I´m an older gamer and don´t need the thrill of being raided every 5 minutesītw the pure scifi list is coincident, plz recommend other games (vikings wellcome but no zombies) if I missed one. exploration/diffrent biomes/hidden stuff
game with the most enjoyable building part WITHOUT using mods (I don´t like mods/cheating via console) which one is the most completed game? I have no problem with EA, but it would be fine to have something playable to the "end" after reading this sub and watching some let´s play videos I need some advice before buying (open-world-sale right now) now waiting for new content since they are EA, I´m looking for the next candidate to play. I´m pretty new to this genre and recently played 400h valheim (200h multiplayer) and 250h satisfactory (solo).
